DORA ISABEL RIETZE (nee HUMPHRIES) On Saturday, August 23, 2008, Dora peacefully passed away at the Victoria Hospital. She was a devoted mother and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two sons, Alan and Gerry; granddaughter Kristin, and cat Simon. Her husband Walter predeceased her in 1997. Born in the Gladstone region of Manitoba on April 8, 1920, Dora eventually settled in Winnipeg. For the first few years of married life she and Walter lived in Fort Rouge, eventually settling in St. Vital in 1960. For one year (1983-1984) she and Walter lived in Chilliwack, B.C. Upon returning to Manitoba she lived in her house until moving to Vista Park Lodge in 2005. Dora savored life and all it had to offer. She loved animals, gardening, creating a magnificent park-like yard, loved to travel, having traveled extensively throughout the world, and above all socializing and meeting new people. She enjoyed working with Avon where she could get out and meet her many neighbours in the surrounding area. A funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2008 Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will follow at St.Vital Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service. Many thanks to the staff at Victoria Hospital and in particular to the compassionate care of Dr. Heather Adam.
